Legalizing Hemp

Hemp is the sister plant of marijuana, also called cannabis sativa. The difference is that there is a lot less THC contained in the plant. THC is the substance, which makes cannabis sativa a drug because it causes abnormal feelings to people. Cannabis sativa has been illegal in the United States since the Great Depression. The question people ask themself is why? There could be reason to marijuana being illegal because of its affects to people, however having hemp illegal is something that is unreasonable because of its plenty of advantages. The ironic thing though is that marijuana is illegal, however alcohol is legal when alcohol kills over 150,000 people a year, not including 50% of all highway deaths. Even though no one has ever died strictly from marijuana, it is still illegal when kids have died from sniffing paint thinner. So ask yourself, why isn't paint thinner illegal? Another question people ask is, "Why is Hemp illegal when its so beneficial to our economy?" Hemp is very beneficial to our economy because it supplies food, fuel, fiber, and great industry. .
The usage of food from hemp is a beneficial part of an everyday use for the plant. A hemp seed can be pressed into nutritious oil, which contains the highest amount of fatty acids in the plant kingdom (Herer Chp8.). Essential oils are responsible for our immune system responses, and clear the arteries of cholesterol and plaque. Having such an essential way of keeping arteries clean from cholesterol should not be kept illegal. Not only does hemp keep people nutritious, but the byproduct of pressing the oil from hemp seed is high quality protein seed cake. This can be sprouted or grounded and backed into cakes, breads, and casseroles. The protein that comes from hemp seed is one of mankind's finest, most complete and available-to-the-body vegetable proteins. .
