Many of the designer brands that I purchase are typically advocates against child labor. With this knowledge I am able to make informed decisions regarding my purchases. Other "engaged" consumers will act in a similar manner when making purchases. Companies with "bad" practices will go out of business if they become non-profitable. It is here where consumers have all of the power and a single choice can make all the difference. The choice of how much or how I little I buy, is another factor in which consumers help determine an economic outcome. Since the political world is shaped by economic activity, an individual's involvement or lack thereof is critical. I am a member of a generation that is known for its increased purchasing power. My consumer habits have in some way had an effect on the world's economy. Though my impact may be small in comparison to others, I have made my mark not only as a consumer but as a shareholder also. My choice to make online purchases has also helped in the process of opening up the international market. Most consumers would probably agree that they enjoy the ease and convenience of online shopping without even realizing the effect that these purchases have on the world's economy. Many businesses around the globe are able to build profits that would have been otherwise unlikely without the existence of online communication. Businesses and consumers, alike, are able to communicate with one another thus making online transactions profitable and beneficial to all. Consumption is also indirectly related to the government sector of world politics. It is through the small choices that we make as consumers that government officials will make decisions about such things as trade and labor policies thus proving the important role played by consumers in world politics.
I have also contributed to world politics as a voter within the democratic state in which I live.
