War on Terror

"The qualities of courage and compassion that we strive for in America also determine our conduct abroad. The American flag stands for more than our power and our interests. Our founders dedicated this country to the cause of human dignity, the rights of every person, and the possibilities of every life. This conviction leads us into the world to help the afflicted, and defend the peace, and confound the designs of evil men." President George W. Bush. There are many issues that can be addressed about invading Iraq and starting the "War on Terrorism". Everybody has their own opinion so it will be impossible to state them all, but here are the strongest arguments.
The first issue is that Saddam Hussein was a mass murder of his own people and was abusing his power in office. One might argue that it was not our position to fight for this cause and that the citizens of Iraq should have risen up against their leader if it was what they wanted. Well, with the United States being the most powerful nation in the world, there is no way we could have just sat back and watch as millions of countless innocent people were murdered. This is exactly what would of happened if they would have risen against Saddam. .
Second, Saddam and his regime supported international terrorism which also takes the life's of countless innocent people. No, we are not the ones who fight terrorism and some people believe we should have waited for help from NATO and other international committees. Truth is we did wait but a decision had to be made. Our president decided we would do it yourselves and help prevent anything as devastating as 9-11 from ever happening again.
Lastly, Saddam's government was being run as a totalitarian dictatorship, it was not a democracy like the government of the United States of America. We question this with "who gave us the right to decide how another should be ran?" Actually, all we are trying to do is what is best for the people of Iraq.
