Gold confessed to having received information about the bomb. .
Next, authorities received information of a soldier in Los Alamos who gave information of a lens used in the atom bomb in exchange for five hundred dollars. Authorities started to question David Greenglass as being that soldier. Greenglass admitted that he gave the information to Gold. The following statement taken from (The Rosenberg Trial) is crucial later on in the trial of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg:.
He also identified his wife, Ruth, and his brother-in-law, Julius Rosenberg, as participants.
in the Soviet spy ring.
This statement is essentially what brought Julius and eventually Ethel Rosenberg into the investigation. This is another great quote that illustrates Julius's attitude: (The Rosenberg Trial).
To the FBI at the time, Julius was,"just a next in a row of falling dominoes" but unlike the dominoes in the line before him, Julius did not tip over. When informed of .
Greenglass's accusations, Rosenberg said to FBI agents," Bring him here- -I"ll .
call him a liar to his face."(The Rosenberg Trial).
IV. The Rosenbergs.
Julius Rosenberg was a quiet child who grew up in New York City. At a young age, his father hoped he would become a rabbi since Julius was educated in Hebrew studies. However at the age of sixteen Julius joined the New York Colleges Youth Communist League. It was clear now Julius had an excitement for politics. Julius met Ethel at a party and was soon married in 1939. In 1943 and 1947 Julius and Ethel had two children Michael and Robert (Julius and Ethel Rosenberg). Julius received his degree in engineering and later started a mechanic shop business with his brother-in-law David Greenglass. Julius was not concentrating on the new business and this caused it to fail. Julius was more interested in other things now. He began stealing things for the soviets and soon became a controller of a spy organization (Julius and Ethel Rosenberg).
