While I was sitting in the lounge room one afternoon, I noticed a Vouge magazine on the coffee table, as I couldn't find anything else to occupy myself with, I reached out for the magazine and I started going through each page and with every turn, I was aware that there was another appalling image of a lady dressed in versace with bones shooting out of every corner in her body. I was utterly disgusted at the fact that designers such as Donatella Versace could use these sticks to promote there hard work. Looking at some other models who were not as skinny as the versace models, I couldn't help compare myself to them, Infact after 5 minutes of envying the models because of there body shapes, I could not help but wish I was like them.
It is well and truly clear that by looking through the nearest Vouge can damage you, being exposed to images of models leaves you asking yourself, "why cant I be like that?" .
Wanting to be skinny starts from a very young age. You might have had the case where your aunty called you fat, unfortunately she might have thought that it was the funniest thing at the time, but to you, it might have been the saddest thing you have ever heard. As you grow up you might question to yourself "I wonder what skinny looks like?." you only discover the answer a few days later when you learn that models are skinny and beautiful. So then you wanted to be like a model; skinny, perfect and beatuful. That's where it all starts, from models, and who else to blame but the fashion industry, they are the main people who hire models, they are the fuel that keeps the fire burning, if it weren't for them, being a size 10 would not hurt. .
In today's generation looks and weight seem to be much more important than personality, fashion models suggest to us what is attractive and what good body shape looks like. Unfortunately not every one is able to be the same size as models are, they are clearly not proper role models for anyone, in order to be the same size as a model, you have to stick your fingers down your throat a couple of times after every meal, or, by simply shutting yourself away from the kitchen and making water your best friend.
