Female Characters In Romeo and Julliet

ii.113-115). This is a somewhat childish response to Romeo's vow. If their love is true, then the "circled orb" of the moon is not likely to change the way the lovers feel about each other. Along with being immature in her relationship with Romeo, Juliet also proves to be quite hasty. Many people say that this is what accounted for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The night the lovers meet, Romeo climbs up to Juliet's balcony and there they talk of sweet nothings. The teenagers are deeply infatuated with each other and wish strongly to be together. Juliet asks Romeo, "Dost thou love me? I know thou wilt say "Ay,"/ And I will take thy word" (11.ii.94-95). This is just one example of Juliet's hastiness. The two had just met that night and already she is asking Romeo to profess his love to her. Might it be that they will get married within the same week of meeting? .
The Nurse is an important character who aids Juliet in her love affair with Romeo. She proves to be a great help to Juliet's situation. When Juliet discovers that Romeo has been banished and Tybalt slain, the Nurse says to her, "Hie you to your chamber. I"ll find Romeo/ To comfort you. I wot well where he is./ Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night./ I"ll to him. He is hid at Laurence" cell" (11.ii.142-145). This is a remarkably thoughtful thing for the nurse to do, because her life is at stake for helping Juliet. Aside from being a helpful character in the story, the Nurse can also be a bit of a nuisance. She often complains about her problems or her ailments, acting like a victim in many of her appearances. After talking to Romeo in the town, the Nurse returns to Juliet to deliver a message. Juliet is anxious to hear about Romeo, but the Nurse only complains, "Lord, how my head aches! What a head have I!/ It beats as it would fall in twenty pieces" (11.v.47-48). The nurse is clearly exaggerating the pain she is in. She feels like a victim of circumstance and therefore she thinks she must complain to Juliet.
