With your awesomeness, you will gain respect from those who are small-minded '.
Ruth has done just that. She has gained respect through her accomplishments in the world like her having been successful in business, with the Vesta Rose Employment Agency, and she already has awesomeness through the obvious drawing power of [her] appearance. The Satanic Witch is a book about conforming to non-conformity, and it is about the society we live in. The theories inside it are realistic and this one has been used to great effect by Ruth. Anton LaVey is famous for his Church of Satan and he is obviously a rebel against society. The followers are dedicated to their own indulgence, and this fits Ruth perfectly. She is using the same kind of formula described within The Satanic Witch to get what she wants. She doesn't care about what other people would think, she admits she didn't believe in God, but she believed in the Devil.
Ruth had talked about her looks before she became a she-devil. While describing her unluckiness, she had referred to the great lucky dip that is woman's life. The words lucky dip' implies that a woman's life is based on chance and that her life is out of her hands and she has no control over it. When Ruth mentions this lucky dip' she is referring to her looks. This also suggests that a woman's life and therefore her future is based on whether she looks pretty or not. This seems shallow and superficial. We all know that in an ideal world it's the heart that counts' but what many of us don't realize is that, small-minded or not, it's the way society is. But in becoming a she-devil, Ruth has changed that, for herself at least. She is taking control of her life, so her future is not based on chance as many other women's are, and she isn't letting the men rule her, like she used to and so many women still do. She isn't letting her ugliness get in the way of her getting what she wants, while other women desperately try to improve their looks to advance themselves in the world.
