A senior at Fort Collins High School, Bobby has shown his friends and family that hard work pays off. With his talent and determination, he is a positive influence to his teammates and anyone else who gets the chance to meet him.
Since he was young, swimming has always been a big part of Bobby's life. Bobby started swimming competitively for his local summer club team in 1993, after completing swimming lessons when he was only seven. His coaches were Shawn and Todd. Todd was very forcing, and would make Bobby swim his weakest stroke, Breaststroke, since Bobby couldn't swim it well and never learned the proper technique he never really learned it or swam it until several years later.
During the next two summers, Bobby still swam for Shawn and Todd and continually improved his time in the 25 and 50 Freestyle. He also began to enjoy swimming the 100 Backstroke. In the summer of 96, Bobby had new coaches Craig and Jason, Jason was the person who first taught him the Butterfly which got him started swimming it as well as the Individual Medley. In 1997 Jason kept coaching and Sean replaced Craig, that year he dropped time in all of his events and won the city championship in the 50 Backstroke at the age of 11.
In 1998 this became his first year that he didn't improve all of my times. The same year, Jason left and was replaced by Sean's girlfriend and his sister's friend, Carrie. In 1999 his times kept improving and in 2000, he finally broke 30 seconds in the 50 Freestyle.
2001 was Bobby's first year of high school swimming with Fort Collins High School, that's where his stroke was really analyzed and helped by his high school coach, Dan, who still is one of his favorite swim Coaches. All of his times improved and he lettered during that high school season. That summer he swam the City meet for his summer club where he won the 50 and 100 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. After the City meet, he swam in Summer Club State, where he got 6th in the 100 Freestyle.
