School is supposed to be an institution where you learn good from bad and not to discriminate against others. I have had teachers that make me doubt that a little, deeply although there have been teachers that do exhibit the characteristics that a teacher should have. I would like to tell you about one of each, a good teacher and a bad teacher .
My most dreaded teacher was Mrs. Roads. Mrs. Roads was my 11th grade English teacher and she disliked me from the first day I set foot in her room. I was not sure at the time why she never gave me a chance. I was a pretty good student; not "A" but close, yet she looked at me as if I had a giant "F" on my forehead. Later in the year I found that she was counting me as not turning in my assignments and homework. I was so shocked by this that I stayed back one day and asked how this could be. She said that I had not handed them in and that I did not deserve credit because I was not the same as every one else. From that day on I realized what was going on she was stereo- typing me because I had been in special classes when younger. I had a friend in that class named Stacey and she thought that I was crazy. Then one day when I turned in an essay on "Tom Sawyer" and Stacey knew that I had turned it in because we helped each other do it then turned them in at the same time. When Mrs. Roads gave everyone back their papers she never gave me mine. I asked her where it was and she insisted that I did not turn it in to her, but Stacey and I knew the truth that I had turned it in. We went to the guidance office and informed them there. But they said that unless we had hard evidence that they could do nothing about it. So Mrs. Roads got away scot-free and I barely squeaked by her class thanks to me making a "C" on my writing exam. I never truly found out her problem with allowing me a chance. That is I why Mrs. Roads was the worst teacher that I had.
