Animal Farm

"get rid of man" is a quote from "Animal Farm" written by George Orwell. The novel outlines what happened during the Russian Revolution. In my study I shall be focusing on how the novel relates to the Revolution without actually commenting on it.
The novel achieves this firstly by word choice the main word describing this being "comrade" which is a word which the Russians used to address each other by during the times of the revolution. This saying is used a lot by the Animals but it is mainly used when people are talking to Napoleon this shows his power and authority over the other animals who are all meant to be equal.
The second way in which the novel achieves this is by relating all the characters to people who were a main part of the Revolution the first of whom is Mr Jones. .
Mr Jones is related to Czar Nicholas II. This is shown by his unmatchable power.
Another Key person within the novel is Snowball, he represents Leon Trotsky, this is shown by him being totally for communism and one of the leaders of the rebellion as was Trotsky. Another fully communist person in the Novel is Old Major, old Major represents Karl Marx who gave the Russian people the idea of communism, he did this through his remarkable speeches to the Russian people. Which is what Old Major did in the novel.
The main character in "Animal Farm" is Napoleon he represents Joseph Stalin. Napoleon is shown to be Stalin through his actions and language and the way he treats the other animals who are supposed to be all equal however as described in the novel "some are more equal than others" meaning that Napoleon was the most equal and entitled to anything he wished as he was in charge. The dogs which he raised represent the KGB as they did exactly what they were told to do even if it was killing other animals. Another key person in the novel is Squealer represents Stalins" public speakers as he is a very good liar and an articulate speaker.
