Name

The few lucky people that do not have to worry about their first names becoming misspelled run into problems with their middle names. Some people do not even have a middle name, which helps alleviate the whole misspelling epidemic. Leigh happens to be my middle name. This name is commonly confused. Confusion has been made as to whether this is a boy's name or a girl's. Britain uses Lee as a male name and Leigh as a female, but both spellings are used as male names in Australia. (Dunkling 235). Lee is a pet form of Leah. It is derived from the Anglo-Saxon meaning, "field meadow". (Kolatch 185). .
Now with the misspellings of first names, and then the utter confusion of middle names, we then toss last names into the equation. Last names are probably the most difficult to spell, not to mention pronounce. Some last names have been changed from their early ancestors to eliminate confusion but we have not truly succeeded with this goal. Henning is my last name and it is always misspelled. The name Henning is of Low German and Danish descent. Derived as a short form of Henrik, and also of Johnannes. (Hanks, Hodges 153). Henning can be spelled, and is usually misspelled as Hennings or Hemmings.(Hanks, Hodges 153).
Henrik is of Low German, Scandinavian, and Hungarian decent. It is a very popular name in Denmark (Hanks, Hodges 153). Hemming is also a variation of Henning. This name is of English descent and nemours in east Ulster. (MacLysaght 154). .
People share many names. First, middle, and last names are all shared throughout the world. Many names are shared with celebrities, athletes, family members, or even senators, presidents, and religious persons. Kristi Yamaguchi shares my first name, with a different variation of spelling. Kristi Yamaguchi is a world famous figure skater and an idol of mine. I ice skate as a hobby but have always wanted to become a professional skater. Kristi Yamaguchi is graceful and elegant with her performances.
