Cause and Effect College Drinking

A few months ago some of my friends were at a college party. In that party there were all kinds of alcohol beverages. Everybody was drinking since the begging of the party. My friends had been drinking for several hours until the party was over. When they decided it was time to go, nobody was physically able to drive; they were very drunk. Pedro, who thought he was sober, decided to drive everybody home. After a few blocks, struggling to take control of the car, Pedro lost control and they crashed. In that terrible accident one of the passengers died. Pedro was so depress that he did not go out of his house for several months. This is a sad story and a perfect example of what can happen when alcohol and imprudence are mixed. According to The Institute of Alcohol Studies, "in [the year] 2000", "the number of casualties increased by 10 per cent", "there were 18,000 drink-drive casualties". Furthermore, according to the National Institute of Health, "Available research indicates that approximately 80 percent of college students drink and that half of college student drinkers engage in heavy episodic drinking". Alcohol can cause several damages, which can lead to the death of the person drinking. Students should be more conscious about the consequences of drinking. The question at hand is; how can they avoid drinking if alcohol is always involved in their lives? This is an interesting question that in the next few paragraphs we are going to try to answer. The possible causes that make a student drink are: Social factors, Social problems, and Personal acceptance. .
First I would like to talk about the social factors. These are the ones that have to do with our environment. When we talk about our environment there are two main reasons that we need to take into consideration. The first social or environmental reason why a student would drink has to do with acceptance. According to Kevin Thompson, "Drinking can reestablish feelings of acceptance in several ways.
