In the beginning of chapter two after boo has an outburst and runs out of Torey's classroom, Torey uses these skills. When Torey finds Boo in the kindergarten classroom, even with the kindergarten children standing there watching her she doesn"t try to snatch Boo up too quickly and drag him back to the classroom, she was very calm and explained to him that they needed to return to their classroom. She spoke softly and held the child to comfort him.
             Next there is Lori, Lori is a very beautiful and bright 7 year old girl. She was the victim of severe child abuse and as a result she now has brain damage. Lori was a very hyperactive student, who had a hard time learning things. Lori, doesn"t really have a problem with math, but she has little to no english, spelling and grammar skills She could read or write and had no recognition of letters or words not even her own name. In chapter four, when Torey is having a conference with Mr.Sjokheim, she explains to him that Lori struggles with learning she can"t read or write, she can barely say the alphabet, however she can count up to 1000. Torey was a very accommodating teacher and did a lot of things for each of the students, one of the accommodations she made for Lori were flash cards with the letters of her name on them. In chapter three Torey begins to Use flash cards to help Lori learn how to spell her name. Another accommodation and intervention Torey made for Lori was going to her house and bringing her back to school, and then ripping up all of her spelling workbooks. In chapters 21-24 Torey visits Lori's home and tries to persuade her to return to school, when this fails in chapter 24 she drags Lori back to school kicking and screaming. When Torey arrives with Lori at school and gets her back in the classroom, she removes all of Lori's workbooks and other spelling and grammar material that was from Edna, Torey ripped them up and threw them in the garbage.
