Was Dwight Eisenhower a great President?

Dwight Eisenhower, a military genius and a great president rose to power by will and determination. He did not consider life as easy work or easy answers without the hard work put in it before. He had a great military background which is why he had no trouble when it came to working on international affairs. In high school, he was just an average student but in the army he was one of the best. He always looked closely in ever political problem. He believed that the extremes to the right and to the left in any political dispute are always wrong. Because of this way of thinking, he made this country sway from death and war. Eisenhower wanted as much peace as possible. Because of his ideals he turned down many recommendations; for example, he was being forced to launch a swift air strike on the Soviets but he didn't go for it, he used the nuclear bombs to deter the Soviets. At home, Eisenhower was a conservative who primary concern was to balance the federal budget which is why he refused to lower the taxes until the balancing of the federal budget was done. Dwight Eisenhower was truly a great president who was an extremely popular person and her to the American people until he died and long after. .
In conclusion, I have to agree with Stephen E. Ambrose who also agreed that Eisenhower was a Great President. "His greatest successes came in foreign policy By making peace in Korea, and avoided war thereafter for seven and a half years - (Ambrose pp. 276). As much as we believe that Eisenhower was a great president, he did have his flaws. He would loose this temper sometimes when under lots of pressure. For example, "Eisenhower tried nuclear blackmail during the Quemoy-Matsu crisis of 1955" (Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. pp. 285). Overall, Eisenhower kept the country prosperous condition for his either years as the president; which is why "millions of Americans felt that the country was damned lucky to have him" (Ambrose pp.
