There are numerous similarities between my objects that I have chosen. There are similarities because they show Asian culture to be much more traditional and authentic compared to Western culture. Asian culture is more commonly known as being foreign and exotic compared to Western culture and our customs. An example of this is my Asian cookbook. Recipes used in this cookbook are very exotic because of the many different uses of spices. Spices to Westerners have always been seen as exotic and foreign as they were once hard to produce and had to be imported for Australian cooking. Another similarity is that food and its preparation are very important to Asian culture, as it has been for thousands of years. Traditional methods of food preparation are still commonly used today, within the Asian culture and many others. An example of this are my sushi rolling mats. Although they maybe mass-produced today they are still based on the traditional rolling mat used for thousands of years by the Asian culture. They haven't been Westernized but interestingly enough they have been accepted into our culture. My Asian cookbook and Sushi rolling mats are relatively similar in the ways that they show Asian culture to be much more traditional, exotic and authentic compared to Western culture in there uses of cookbooks and utensils.
There are numerous differences between my two objects that I have chosen. There are differences because my sushi rolling mats are focusing on mainly Japanese culture when my Asian cookbook is a collection of many different recipes from different parts of Asia. This difference is significant because all countries in Asia have their own customs, culture and cooking methods and are often mistaken for being the one, similar country. For example my sushi rolling mats are typically used in only Japanese cooking where as people often perceive that Asian cooking as in my Asian cookbook all tastes like Chinese food, but if they look more closely they will discover that the ingredients differ as do the cooking methods.
