Then he grab hold my titties. Then he push his thing inside my pussy." (Walker, Alice) .
For obvious reasons the book bring up a major concern of the harshness or overly expressive nature in the sexuality department. The article goes on to talk about the battle that the board members have in trying to fix the problem. They set up a committee to read the books that were on a list given to them that were known for having "profanity and sexually explicit material.".
So again this article goes on to talk about the problems the book, The Color Purple, is causing due to its graphic nature. The sexuality in it is very strong and aggressive. The article just continues to talk about the problems that came up with the efforts to censor the book. People against censorship talked about how, according to the article, it was unfair for the student because of the certain rights students had to read everything out there. At the same time the parents for censorship pushed more and more for protecting their children.

I didn't quite get to use the whole article but I was able to take out a small excerpt from the article about the sexuality in the book, The Color Purple. Some parts of the short excerpt I found on page 180 of the article talked about the approval that Alice Walker received for her depiction of lesbian sexuality. Readers "loved the novels exuberance, welcoming its depiction of lesbian sexuality-.
There there's always the other half. According to the excerpt, "others were unhappy because the novel did not appear to reflect the assertive lesbian politics of the 1970's. Bel Hooks, for example, objected to lesbian sex being shown as compatible with Celie's marriage, and never becoming a controversial issue, or undermining heterosexual and patriarchal institutions, because of "Walker's refusal to acknowledge it as threatening - dangerous".
