The motion picture Gandhi was a truly inspiring movie that explained every question I've had about the life of Gandhi. Actually before watching this movie the only thing that I knew about Gandhi was that he was from India and that he was a man who apposed violence. Gandhi was an incredible human and watching the movie showed me how powerful non-violent protest can be. He was able to have unjust laws against Indian people in South Africa to be repealed and freed the entire nation of India with out ever striking a blow or even having anybody else strike a blow for him. The courage he showed was also incredible. When he was in South Africa in the beginning of the movie and he was having the first protest of the unjust laws that were there to discriminate against people of color he knew that the police officer was going to beat him for burning the identifications of the Indian people but he continued to do so until he was beating to the point of not being able to get up. And never once did he even attempt to fight back. .
Also Gandhi's methods for freeing India from England were always very intelligent and guaranteed to be noticed. At one point he was able to shut down all of India by having a day of pray across the nation. He combined absolute disobedience with complete civility to achieve his victories. He was also able to cause the Muslims and the Hindus to stop fighting after India had gotten its independence from England by fasting. I think its kind of funny how Gandhi taught so much good to a nation and a world yet few people actually apply his knowledge to daily life. .
