So, I did the text of the bible called Luke 10:25-28. It's all about how to gain eternal life. Now in this extract, a learn-ed man of the Torah Law stands up to challenge our good friend Jesus. So it is written:.
"On one occasion, an expert of the Torah Law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher", he asks, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" So Jesus then says: "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" And so, this guy, we"ll call him a lawyer, as he's such an expert in Torah Laws or the Jewish Laws. Well, so anyways, this lawyer guy answers: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love you neighbor as you do yourself." So Jesus took a look at this lawyer, stared him straight in the eye and said: "Is that your final answer?.
Are you sure that you want to key that answer in? Well, CONGRATULATIONS! You now know how to inherit eternal life!" Well, okay, so it didn't really go like that. More like - "You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.".
But you get the general idea. So, that's pretty much my part of the scripture. But before we had reached my part of the scripture, we"d learnt a little about Jesus" insanely special growing up time - his birth, the wacky things he"d done as a kid, what he did when he was a teen, then finally (and where we are now), his travelling the country spreading the word of his father, the Lord, healing all types of people, and opening his heart to all sinners.
Ok, so this might have been, and seemed, pretty crazy to these early hearers of Jesus" preaching. I mean hell, the man was crucified but the Romans for saying he was Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He could turn water into wine and feed millions of people at a moments notice. But many still followed him and thus became the split of Christianity and Judaism. .
This part of the scripture is also a really important one as later, the Rich Young Ruler asks Jesus the same question in Luke 18:18.
