La Historia Oficial.
In the movie La Historia Oficial, Alicia is a mother in Argentina who has adopted a young girl named Gaby. In Argentina, a lot of people were kidnapped and forced to have babies and sell them on the black market. Many are still considered missing, as they are victims of these kidnapping crimes. Alicia comes to suspect her husband may have bought Gaby on the black market. He denies it at first, but when a woman comes to Alicia with pictures of her daughter and son-in-law, Alicia comes to realize that Gaby may be this woman's grandchild. Alicia's husband assaults her and she comes to realize that he could have very well kidnapped someone, forced them to have Gaby and taken her and given her to Alicia. Gaby never knew she was adopted and they never planned on telling her. She would not have understood anything her mother was going through because she was too young.
I think it is very sad this happened. There are so many families still alive today that do not know what happened to their sons and daughters. This is an example of a country that needed a forceful leader, a good military and police department. Someone should have stepped in and taken over when things got out of control. .
The citizens protested these kidnappings by marching in the streets. They held signs with pictures of the missing, asking for someone to bring them home. Protests continue to this day, asking the kidnappers to come forward and tell them what they have done with the children.
