My Relationship

With one smacking sound of rubber against metal, there it went, up and into the thin afternoon air. The crowd got on their feet and at that moment everything started to slow down and feel like it was a dream, but it wasn't, this was really happening. As I rounded second I looked over at my parents and they were clapping and cheering. This made me feel good inside. My three run shot won us the game. After the game the team got together and huddled around in a circle. The coach talked about how important team work is and how good of a job we did to win that game. Then he looked at me and said " Andy here's the ball you hit to win it for us". I got the game ball that day, the exact same one that I hit over the fence. Now every time I look at the worn down, dirt brown baseball, all the memories of that game come back to me, like a game winning home run. This ball shows the importance of not giving up and the ability to work as a team.
This game ball is really important to me. It signifies an important event in my life and also one that I will never forget. We were losing 6-4 going into our last at bats and we haven't been able to score a single run since the first inning. So going into the bottom of the inning, it was our last at bats, the whole team looked down and they all didn't believe we could get even two runs to tie it and bring it into extra innings. This pitcher had been lights outs since the first inning when we got a lucky four runs because he wasn't able to settle down. So we came up their on our last at bats and he walked the first batter to start the inning. The next two batters he faced he struck out one and had the other fly out. The fourth batter laced a single through the hole up the middle. So there were two men on for me when I came up and two outs. The first pitch he threw I hit and it went over the left field fence for a home run to win the game. Without me hitting that homer I would have never realized the importance of not giving up and sticking together and believing in yourself.
