The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes outstanding high school students who possess the characteristics of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. It is important to remember, however, that we would not have such a vast number of students in our school who possess these qualities if they did not receive excellent guidance from those who devote themselves to our success - namely, the teachers. Every year, members of the National Honor Society, according to a long-established tradition, dedicate an award to a teacher who has impacted our lives throughout our years at Mile High. We choose a person who has not only succeeded in instilling knowledge within the students, but who also possesses the four qualities of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character and who helps pass those qualities onto the students themselves. .
The impact of an outstanding teacher remains with the student for a lifetime. The teaching profession is different from all others - the results of each year of hard work do not add up year after year, but disappear every September, when the teacher has to start anew with a different group of students. It is difficult for teachers not to know what the fruits of their labor are because students seldom return to say "thank you" even to those teachers who have made a difference. The Installation Ceremony of the National Honor Society creates an opportunity for students to express their gratitude toward those teachers who have made enormous differences in our characters, attitudes, prospects, and in our daily lives. We continue our tradition by selecting another teacher who has contributed to the development of our characters. This teacher not only masters the subject area, but also loves to work with young students and is enthusiastic about learning. He is always ready and willing to help out any student, and tries to know them on an individual basis, thus facilitating the learning process.
