Abortion

 

             Imagine a young girl, pregnant with an unwanted child. She does not have the funds to support a child in a healthy and productive manner. She hears through her friend that there is a doctor that will get rid of the child for her. But under the circumstances that they meet in a secrete ally, and perform the operation there. Can you imagine that young women had to go through that? Probably not, but before the 1971 Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade, there were thousands of women who risked their lives in illegal abortions. .
             Women should continue having the right to decide what happens to their bodies, including the decision whether to have an abortion or not. The constitution states that we the people have free speech and free religion. Why would they question a young woman possessing the choice of whether or not to go through with the pregnancy? Although the decision of having an abortion is a difficult one, in the long run it may benefit society to not have unwanted children. When a mother is forced into bearing a child, and she does not have the money and time to spend on the child, it illustrates consequences that will affect the child in its development. When a child is born into a poor or neglecting family, the child tends to associate itself with gangs, drugs, violence, sexual activity, etc. this effects society because the government spends you, the taxpayers money, dealing with these children. .
             In addition to the right of free religion and speech, we the people are also granted the right to privacy. The 14th amendment provides the assurance of privacy for every individual. In Roe v. Wade, Roe questioned the constitution, and questioned whether it was being fallowed.Does the constitution embrace the right of a woman to obtain an abortion, nullifying the Texas prohibition?? This was the question asked. Does the constitution embrace the right of women to obtain an abortion? The constitution embraces free speech, free religion, free privacy, why would they stop to question whether or not a women wants to put her body through pregnancy.
