Right now everyone seems to be enjoying nature from the land we are standing at, the air we"re breathing in and the water we bathe with. We can't imagine life without it. We"re so used with these luxuries that it seems so ordinary we enjoy too much; we abuse it. We abuse nature as if she's our worst enemy nature is so patient she keeps on sustaining but everything comes to an end, just like the groundwater .
Groundwater it might sound so senseless for others but it's definitely vital for life. We have heard so much of this "GROUNDWATER" but we really don't understand why is it such a big deal. Groundwater is water within the earth that supplies wells and streams. It is a must in the cycle of life. .
Nowadays, some parts of the world are over-using groundwater while those that have sustainable groundwater balance are shrinking day by day. And it is not only shrinking, it's also polluted due to agricultural, industrial and other human activities. Groundwater is well used and contaminated especially on over populated and water lacking areas. Not everyone knows the poor situation of the groundwater and if we keep ourselves unaware we might end up drinking oil in the future.
The consequences from contaminating groundwater may not be felt now but on future generations. 10,000 years from now civilization will be affected because of inadequate reserves and resources like groundwater. Life wouldn't be the same standing on land, breathing air and taking a bath will be such a luxury. .
Before it's too late, we must take part on preserving this precious groundwater. The water vision of a world that future generations will inherit will have to be the one in which groundwater plays its full developmental, productive and environmental role but in a sustainable manner; and the framework of action to realize this vision will mean eschewing the current free-for-all in groundwater appropriation and use, and promoting a more responsible management of this precious resource.
