The best experience I think that had the best impact on my life would have to be when I went to Washington D.C. I went up there to a conference it is called the National Young Leaders Conference. It is the best thing that has happened to me so far in my life. When I first got the letter that I would have the opportunity to go to Washington D.C. I was excited to go around to talk with people. So when I got there we had a meeting with our faculty advisor. To talk about why we were there and what we will be doing there for a whole week. She talked to us that we would go to see the memorials. .
We would get the chance of going to talk with our senators and representatives. We also had these simulations that we got to do. We had to work as a team to solve the problem because everybody had different parts of the problem on how to solve it. Which I liked a lot it helps you to talk to other people to also see how different people are and there different opinions they have about everything. The next day we went to Capital Hill that was cool we got the chance to talk to our senators and representatives. Then we went to our first meeting with one of Orrin G. Hatch's staff members she gave us a biography on him. We then went to our representatives we talked with one of James V. Hansen's staff members. It was cool we asked if he liked his job and when he was little if this was what he wanted to do? He really didn't give us answer he also told us that Hansen is retiring after this year. Then we went to senator Bennett's office he was cool we all got one of his business cards which he signed himself. Then for the rest of the day we just went to look at all of the buildings that are at Capital Hill. .
Then that night we got to sit on the House of Representatives. We got to listen to the speaker of the house, which was awesome. Before he came in to talk to us are faculty advisor showed us the bullet holes that were shot in there during 1950's when congress was passing a bill which the Cuban's didn't like it so they started to shot inside of the building.
