             William Shakespeare's "Sonnet 29- is a plea for help. "This Shakespeare poem shows us the poet at his most insecure and troubled times."" (Mabillard) It discusses poverty and loneliness. Sonnet 29 reflects a time in his life. Perhaps inspired by hardships or tragedies in his life. Shakespeare usually wrote about situations or encounters during his life. "Added to the misfortunes that the speaker of this poem faces is also the pain of knowing that he is facing his trials alone."" (Poetry).
             "Sonnet 29- is not written to a particular person. It stands as an inspirational point to anyone dealing with hard times. "The poet's outcast state' is possibly a reference to his lack of work as a player due to the closing of the theatres in 1952."" (Mabillard) A person could read this poem and apply the poet's feelings and actions to their own life. "Is he outcast' because of his physical, mental, or emotional condition? his fortune or social rank? his rejection from a lover, or from society? his sexual orientation?- (Poetry) There are many situations a reader can apply this poem to aspects in their own lives. .
             Sonnet 29 uses the original Shakespearean structure. It appears in iambic pentameter with an abab cdcd efef gg rhyme scheme. "A sonnet is a lyric poem in a single stanza consisting of fourteen iambic pentameter lines linked by an intricate rhyme scheme. Petrarch (1304-1374) is the poet who is credited with popularizing the Italian sonnet form."" (Jordan) "[ ] the sonneto spread to England where Elizabethan poets developed a new form called the English sonnet or else the Shakespearean sonnet named after the greatest practitioner, William Shakespeare.[ ]- He expresses his wonder towards why he is so lonely and misfortunate. Pleading to God or nature for change in his lifestyle. The "state- the writer is in is a poor, lonely one. "State- meaning status or quality at that time.
