Honors Program

I was proud to represent the great state of Georgia in Phoenix, Arizona at the Academic Decathlon National Championships. I had the highest score on the interview section among all the candidates from Georgia.
             P.A.L.S.
I was an original member of this new program in Macon, Georgia. P.A.L.S stands for Peers Advocating Leadership and Service. In this program, not only do you have to perform a certain amount of service hours, but you are paired with an elementary school student who is from a "troubled background." In this, I was able to tutor my mentor in Math and Science, was able to teach him the rules and etiquette involved in golf and tennis, and spend quality time with him 3 days a week from 3 to 6 pm, the hours where statistics show children are most subject to drugs, gangs, and overall violence. .
             Tennis/Golf.
I was on the Varsity Tennis Team for four years and on the Varsity Golf Team for three years in high school. I was Captain and number one starter for our tennis team for two full seasons. In my senior year, I led the tennis team to our first ever region championship and to the final eight in the state tournament. In golf, I was a starter and we won our regular season region championship and finished in the top thirty at the state level. .
             Foreign Experience/ Study Abroad.
In my high school years I was able to participate in a study abroad program with Mercer University and visited Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. I have also traveled to India, Mexico, Canada, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and forty-nine out of fifty states. I believe that going to all these places, having to adjust to each regions customs and norms, has given me an appreciation for the different types of people in this world, and an ability to adapt to any situation that is highly valuable in leadership positions.
