Machiavelli

.
In society today, the preparation of war is going on daily with the promotion to serve your country by joining the army, the navy, and making it a law for all males that are 18 to sign up for the draft. Our elected officials see fit to these laws and promotions. In electing this leader we make sure that they"re in the right position to try and contain peace but always have soldiers ready. Why do we ourselves not try and maintain peace with our neighbors locally and nationally? In society we spend a lot of time making sure that our president is ready but are we mentally reading ourselves for challenges. Instead of us looking for some quick fix after an attack, why not look at the steps that brought us down. When you"re in holes and set backs sometimes it's better to stay there awhile and analyze why you"re there. People are so quick to give their problems to someone of a higher position and have them figure out the dilemma. We haven't yet looked at ourselves or our purpose. Before electing someone who of course takes on the bigger role, we must communicate with ourselves on the changes that we want to improve. Machiavelli states " knowing the lay of the land in one province one can easily understand it in others." In the same way you should know your land first before exploring another is the same way you should set and understand standards for yourself before giving another person higher ones.
To be a person of your word is a standard that all human beings should live up to. In the opinion of Machiavelli living by integrity is better than living in fraud. With saying that, he also reminds us that many great deed accomplishers focused more on the manipulation of minds then sticking with their promise. In that case, there are ways of fighting through what the laws say and with what's necessary at the time. Behind the scenes with this integrity to Machiavelli it really is all an act, a facade that the Prince must put on correctly for his people.
