            In the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, I have chosen habit five, "Seek First To Understand, Then To Be Understood". Basically this habit is one of the most important to understand and is used through communicating with others. If you do not realize your problem or situation yourself first, the how will people completely understand you and what you are speaking about. The key to be effective is for you to be able to communicate something you can comprehend first. It is sort of like troubleshooting a problem, and then when you have an idea where the trouble is you then explain it to the person who is going to fix it.
             To be effective is to have the ability to communicate and write well. Communicating is the most important, because this is how we are able to express our feelings and thoughts, since we cannot read each other's minds. This will help others comprehend someone's character. What goes along with communicating? Listening goes along with communicating, it is crucial in order for you to be a good speaker. Listening will help us understand an individual and their character.
             When someone speaks to you, they usually do it for you to reply back. The key to the importance of "Seek First To Understand", is when you speak you should speak for someone to actually understand what's being said. When you hear someone speak you should be listening to him or her and not thinking about what you are going to say .
             next or your experience. Basically, it all comes down to you wanting to be an effective listener, therefore you need to understand what the person is trying to express to you.
             There are five levels of listening that a person may be using. They may be ignoring you, pretending to hear you, selective listening, attentive listening, or empathic listening, which is hardly ever used. To be a good listener you want to really understand a person. You want to get inside another persons frame of reference.
