Movie Review: Austin Powers Goldmember

Austin's back, and this shagadelic fighter of crime is out to save the world once again. This extremely funny action packed comedy features Austin Powers (Mike Myers) and his new sidekick Foxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles) trying to outsmart their evil nemesis, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers). This new Austin adventure gives the audience just what they were waiting for; a string of puns, gags, jokes and crudity that made the co-writer, producer, and quadruple-role performer, Mike Myers famous.
Goldmember is the third in the Austin Powers series and most people were not sure if it was going to work out. Was it better than the first two? Well that is hard to say. In 1997 Austin Powers was introduced to the world as a unique and hilarious 60's spy trying to outwit a criminal mastermind. This memorable character with a frilly suit, questionable dental hygiene, and a sexy aura proved to be a hilarious spoof off the serious secret agent, James Bond.
In 2000 the Spy Who Shagged Me was released and met with box office returns that quadrupled those of its predecessor. The world was ready and wanting for more of Austin Powers. This sequel introduced hilarious new characters, and a brilliant and funny plot. Its crude humor and witty jokes made this Austin Powers funnier then the first.
Goldmember, who is apparently inspired by the murderous gold-lover, Auric Goldfinger from the 1964 James Bond movie is not as creative as the new characters in the prequel. This pasty faced, golden membered Dutchmen teams up with Dr. Evil in a plan to make some serious money. If the government does not comply with their demands, they will blow up the Earth. Goldmember kidnaps Austin's father played by actor Michael Cain, and this forces the International Man of Mystery to go on a hunt and find the kidnapper, and the kidnapped. Austin's new beautiful sidekick is played by the singer and actress Beyonce Knowles. Knowles puts her whole heart, soul, and swinging hips into her role as Foxy Cleopatra.
