Throughout the world, and more so in the United States, there are many Marines bases existing to support the growing number of Marine enrollment throughout the corps. The first two camps, which are the head of recruitment and training, lie on the two coasts. Camp Pendleton, roughly 40 miles from San Diego, California, is on the west coast and is home to Marine, Army, and Navy Units. The other of the two bases is Parris Island, South Carolina, on the east coast. Parris Island is the only base that is home to Women Marines.
