Czech Policial Pparties

The Civic Forum was primarily a Czech party, while the Public Against Violence was a Slovak party. The Communist party also received much support. These movements lacked common political ideals other than not being for Communism. The Civic Forum broke away in 1991 and became the Civic Democratic Party, which was headed by Vaclac Klaus. The Civic Democratic Alliance also emerged as a political party from the former Civic Forum. .
After the 1992 election there were six parties who were able to meet the threshold of 5% thus, they could seat people. The six major political parties in the Czech Republic are as follows: Czech Social Democrats party (CSSD), the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), the Communist party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSCM), the Christian Democratic Union-Peoples party (KDU-CSL) the Civic Democratic Alliance (ODA), the Czech Republic Party Assembly of the Republic (SPR-RSC) and the Republican Party.
The CSSD is a social democratic party. It is a traditional social democratic party in which most of the voters are industrial workers and public employees. The Civic Democratic Party is one of the most powerful; it's a center-right party that is popular with entrepreneurs and young, educated, urban voters. This party is lead by Milos Zeman; he claims to follow western European-style Social Democratic principles. The CSSD benefits from people concerned about health, education and pensions.
The ODS is lead by Vaclav Klaus. This is a center right party with a free-market, anti-Communist and pro-Western platform. This party's support comes mainly from young, educated, urban voters and from entrepreneurs and small-business owners. The ODS is the most significant center-right party in the Czech political system. .
The ODA is much like the ODS in that it is also a center-right party. The ODA is more radical when advocating tax cuts and pushes for less government in social spheres. The leader of this party is Deputy Prime Minster Jan Kalvoda.
