Character Analysis Essay: Animal Farm.
This essay is to describe the differences between Napoleon and Snowball from Animal Farm. These two characters fight over power over the farm after Old Major's death. There are many differences between Napoleon and Snowball. One of the differences is heir approach in how they plan to rule the farm. Another difference is the fact that Snowball thinks of the farm's animals whereas Napoleon thinks of his own well being. Their approaches differed because of the fact that napoleon ruled by bullying and forcing his way to the top Snowball, on the other hand, earned their trust and loyalty, but was forced off by Napoleon's hounds. There really is no protagonist or antagonist, but because of his actions, I would have to say that Napoleon falls under that category. Snowball acted as more of a leader for the animals than himself. .
Napoleon was never really concerned over the conditions I the animal farm or of the revolution, only in his own power and status. Napoleon never actually contributed to the act of taking over the farm from Mr. Jones. As soon as the farm was taken over by the animals, Napoleon trained nine hounds to work for him as a sort of police. Through these dogs, Napoleon eliminated the competition. Through these hounds, Napoleon struck fear in the animals and took over the farm. The nine hounds which he had working for him were taken from two dogs Jessie and Bluebell. Napoleon trained them specifically to do his bidding saying that he was going to educate them. .
Snowball was a very intelligent character; he managed to gain the farm animal's trust. Snowball contributed greatly in the fight for the farm's control. His methods for control were very noble and effective. Instead of setting aside and allowing everybody else to do the work he was very involved in the struggle. Snowball's thought and vision was of having animalism spread around the world.
