The white people did not understand where the Indians were coming from. The Indian perspective was a lot different than how the white people thought about land. Canassatego, leader of the Onondaga nation says, "the white people think we do not know the value; but we know that the land is everlasting" (Small groups 2). Canassatego is telling us that there is so much value in land, the white people will never understand the way that the Indians see their land. ...
