In verse seven the author starts to develop his actual feelings about his father and grandfathers" line of work as it is incorporated into his life. ... He claims it as a squat pen because it doesn't add to the size and greatness of his fathers" tools, the spade. With the last sentence the author restates that he wants to be a writer with the statement "I"ll dig with it". ... But he still looks back on the days as though he misses them when he worked with his father. ... But then by the end of the poem he starts to have a realization within him that writing is his farming and comes...
