It would be wrong to say that Golding did not use the Freudian mind structure as a basis for this novel, as the similarities among the 3 parts and Jack, Ralph, and Piggy are uncanny; the names of the characters and names of Freudian counterparts could probably be used interchangeably. The Id's lack of rational or emotional values is directly paralleled to Jack's unnecessary hunting, murders, and destruction. ...
