DNA has been a hot topic in the news in recent years as it's beginning more prevenient in exonerating prisoners from crimes that they were wrongfully convicted for. 1989 was the first year that someone was exonerated by DNA evidence and since then a group called the "The Innocence Project " has devoted their time and funds to helping people behind bars wrongfully.
