While searching for more information regarding the child laborers of this time I found several notes that the word "weep" may have actually been the word "sweep" - a result of a Cockney lisp which dropped the "s." ... I found the "Holy Thursday" poems to be much more moving and effective. This is likely because I was able to grasp the images Blake offers much more easily because of my own visit to St Paul's. ... An example of this is found in the first stanza which is a beautiful description of the opening scene: "As market-days are wearing late An' folk begin to tak the gate." ...
