In comparison with the few other settings we see within the movie, such as Amelia's place of work which is painted in all white, the house is much duller and clearly implies the depressing atmosphere within the characters own home, this also implies that when Amelia is at work she has escaped that atmosphere, an idea which is backed up when she is shown to be smiling and laughing when engaged in conversation with her potential love interest at work. ...
