Thao changes in a big way from the start of the movie to the end of the movie for the better. because at the start Thao was spiraling down into a deep, dark chasm, but he managed to find a way to dig himself out, because at the start he was trying to get in his cousins gang and they wanted him to steal a car to get in so he tried to steal Walts 1972 gran Torino but he failed. so then the gang kept on persisting that he join their gang but he didn't. but because he tried to steal Walts car to make up for the crime his family made him work for Walt and that's when he started to dig him...
