1. Atomic Bomb and the Manhattan Project
The efforts of all the facilities eventually culminated in a test of the first atomic bomb, which took place in Los Alamos, New Mexico on July 16, 1945. The test of the atomic bomb was named "Trinity," and it was a major success. The test bomb was detonated resulting in a shockwave that could be felt over 100 miles away and heard as far as El Paso, Texas.
