The opening scene with pigeons is also very reminiscent of the Orson Wells production of Othello shown in lecture. ... Unfortunately, I would have to conclude that in this case, at least the essence of Shakespeare's Othello has been lost, and all that really is left is a film that is fun to watch because it is so closely related to Othello, without really being something that can really be considered of the same vein. The outside plot elements inserted into the film (Othello's history as a dubious character and Iago as a drug-user begging for his father's recognition) as well...
