The book has to main themes, "Remembering the Past" and "Reinventing the Present." In the introduction the author guides us through her history of Sierra Leone and how she never really heard the story of the Amistad revolt, as she would have liked too. ... I really enjoyed this book. I chose this book because in class I had previously heard of a slave ship revolt but I was not certain if it was the Amistad revolt. ... In conclusion, I think the author, Iyunolu Osagie, did an excellent job in achieving her task based on her purpose of writing the book. ...
