Durring the climax, where the girls and Lengel confront each other, Sammy makes the decision to quit, and the two different thought patterns climax as well in the reader and subconsciously force the reader to decide if Sammy quit because he is honestly concerened about society or if it is because he wanted to be a "hero" for the girls, making him look better to them. Sammy's mind takes a sharp turn during the climax of the story. ...
