1. Consider Webster's definition of the word 'narrative': a spoken or written account of connected events; a story. With that in mind, we can conclude that a narrative essay is quite different from other types of essays; they're more personal, creative and descriptive. They tell a story.
A narrative essay is typically written in the first person (from the ""I"" perspective), but it's within the rules to write in the third person (he, she, etc.). It should incorporate the essential elements of a story: setting, theme, characters, plot, and mood. When writing a narrative essay, it's your job to tell the reader about a personal experience—or that of another individual—and to do so as if you're telling the complete story from beginning to end.
