Was the Munich Agreement a Disaster? The Munich agreement in 1938 was a disaster as made Hitler bolder in his ambitions. In Hitler's expansionist policy, Hitler invaded targetted countries in order to achieve his goals of a Greater Germany. When he saw how Britain adopted a policy of appeasement in order to not risk a war, he took a gamble and set his sights on Czechoslovakia. When Hitler threatened to go to war for Sudetenland, Britain and France urged the leaders of Czechoslovakia to allow Hitler to occupy Sudetenland and signed the Munch Agreement in September 1938 so as to avoid a war. The Munich Agreement convinced Hitler that the British and French were bent on preventing war and would give in to his demands, and this emboldened Hitler. As he gained control over Sudetenland without a fight, Hitler became more ambitious and set his sights for the rest of Czechoslovakia and more and more countries in Europe. This eventually led to the breaking out of World Wa |

Why I'm Applying to Penn State*Although I had heard people talking about motors and other stuff, it was in 4th grade, while watching a documentary on discovery channel, when , for the first time, the word "motor" bogged me down, compelling me to know more about it. I came back home and googled it. My mind had hitherto confined itself to envisioning a small piece of metal used in remote controlled cars. I took apart my radio-controlled car to understand its working. My grandfather, who is a mechanical engineer, by profession, triggered my inquisitiveness, by taking a battery and connecting it to the motor... My favorite car with which I used to play endlessly was replaced by a small part of it. I still remember trying to devise different models using motors. I made a small elevator using motors. I connected it |

Love in The TranscendentalistThe broken-hearted can only be mended by love just as only love can change a man's heart; enemies can become friends only through love just as only love can soften the hardest of hearts. In this way, Emerson, as a transcendentalist, portrays love as being a necessity in life; every man wishes, desires, to be loved. For this reason, the world would benefit from showing love to everyone as it causes mankind to care for others, to encourage joy in others. It is something that comes from deep within the soul and if the world experienced more love, humanity would be willing to expand their mind to accept the differences in others. No matter how humans differ from each other, whether by the color of skin, religion, or social status, they all deserve love. In "The Transcendentalist," Emerson writes that human beings have a "great wish to be loved" (3). Every person wishes to be loved; they want to be desired and cared for. Erich Fromm d |

Methods of Successful Co-ParentingParenting is not always an easy task, especially when a family is separated by divorce. I have seen many families torn apart, children used as pawns, parents fighting over custody and so on. According to my research, co-parenting is easiest on the parents and the children when parents and step-parents are all working together and making a conscious effort to maintain a positive family atmosphere. Successful co-parenting is based on putting the children's needs above anything else, including new relationships. The article, "Parent Teams", explains that most interaction between former spouses who have children together is out of necessity, in order to fulfill the needs of their children (Braithewaite, McBride, and Schrodt. 107-108). This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the parents are putting aside their differences in order to take care of the needs of their children and maintain a successful co-parenting relationship. I am in a relationship with a man who has two children |

Biological Viewpoints of Abnormal BehaviorParadigms in psychopathology have been advancing in how we diagnose and investigate abnormal behavior. Current paradigms have been instrumental in understanding and creating effective treatments for abnormal behavior. In specific, the biological viewpoint or neuroscience has been greatly advancing in how we treat and investigate neural imbalances The biological viewpoint uses the central and autonomic nervous system as its main principal in addressing abnormal behavior. One of the historical breakthroughs in the traditional biological view was general paresis and its link to syphilis, focusing on mental disorders as diseases, "The disorders first recognized as having biological or organic components were those associated with gross destruction of brain tissue (Butcher, Hooley & Mineka 2014)". However, mental disorders are usually not directly linked to neurological tissue damage, but rather the functioning of neurotransmitters in the synapse. The major principle of neuroscience focuses on how messages travel via the neuron throughout the brain. The charge within a cell membrane of a neuron is due to n |

Comparative Theme Analysis - CommitmentAt the basis of every relationship is commitment. Commitment is needed from both sides for the relationship to thrive. With only one side showing commitment, it will not last. In turn, these types of relationships are not worth fighting for. Committing to a relationship can be an issue for many people, whether they afraid or whatever the reason maybe they try to avoid committing by usually ending a relationship before that happens. This idea is portrayed through the lyrics of many different break up songs, when one person leaves another person because of the fear of commitment. Death Cab for Cutie shares their view on the fear of commitment in a relationship through the use of figurative language and diction within the lyrics of a couple of their songs. A peculiar idea on the fear commitment is revealed in Death Cab for Cutie's "Your Heart Is An Empty Room" and "Someday You Will Be Loved" through the band's powerful use of figurative language. Death Cab for Cutie writes in the second |

Defining My PurposeMy whole life, I've been setting goals for myself. When I was young, I changed my mind almost everyday of where I would be at right now. From wanting to go to Harvard, to Hawaii, and somehow ending up in Florida, the mind never stops wandering. Somehow here I am, years later, attending University of Central Florida, and Valencia College, as a nursing student, battling every day. I have set personal, educational, and career goals for myself, in which I hope to see small baby steps forward as time moves along. I'm looking forward to graduating next summer, and taking my BOARDS test. The clock in ticking, and I'm always working hard to be where I want to be. Personally, I've always wanted to go into the medical field. I never knew what I wanted to be. My whole family have always motivated me and told me I could do it if I stuck to it. My mother is one of nine children, and each one of them grew up to be doctors. My godmother, and my mother are pediatric oncologists, which is my ultimate |

Mapping Police Stress - Article ReviewIn their article, "Mapping Police Stress," Matthew J. Hickman, Jennifer Fricas, Kevin J. Strom, and Mark W. Pope describe a new innovative study on police stress based on the measurement of an officer's stress response using a heart rate monitor programmed with a GPS. "This research has provided direct, actual, and spatially anchored data that has overcome other research that was restricted to self-reliant stress measures such as surveys" (Hickman, Friday, Strom, Pope., 2011). The authors state that the results of the new study can potentially help advance in the understanding of officers' stress so that the departments can counter such negative factors with efficient strategies to make the lives of officers easier while on the job. The authors start off by mentioning how police stress on the job is of concern to administrators, the public, and the officers themselves. Officers' are physically and mentally affected by stress, thus, having an impact on their job pe |

Participants and Behavior ObservationStructured observation and participant observation are two observation research methods that are vastly employed as instruments in social research and other disciplines alike. Rather than relying on instruments like questionaries and interviews for social research, observation is a simple and easy solution that allows researchers to observe people's behaviour directly (Bryman, 2012, p272). Although both methods include observing the social behaviour of participants, there are varying advantages and disadvantages of both methods. In this easy I will demonstrate why a social researcher would use structured observation over participant observation to conduct research on the role of social media in the lives of teenagers. First, I will look at how structured observation and participant observation vary in their levels of researcher participation in the research method, this will allow us to see how the researcher would interact or not interact with the teenager participants. Secondly, I wi |

My Last Year of High SchoolDear D_______, I am extremely excited to begin my last year at Franklin Regional. I am looking forward to the future but I will also miss the all great times I've had here. I think that this year will be very fun and enjoyable once I finish the college selection process. I can't wait to choose a college and prepare to take the next step in my life. I think senior year is a great chance to learn many new things this year about who I am and who I want to be. I also want this year to be one that I can enjoy with my friends and family before I part ways with them. I have made some really good friends here and I know that I will stay in touch with them for a very long time. Outside of school, I enjoy many different activities. I am the captain and starting goalkeeper for the soccer team, and I also play for Allegheny Force in the winter and spring. Right now, I am trying to get recruited to play soccer in college, either at th |

American Children, Fitness and ObesityFitness is not a final destination; it is a way of life. The best home improvement project that can be fashioned is one's body. The mindset of a healthy lifestyle and physique can start at an early age. However, in America, there is a high percentage of children between the ages six through seventeen that can not pass a physical fitness test. The ability to obtain a healthy way of life through food, exercise, and lifestyle choices should be provided and enforced throughout the crucial physical developmental period of the younger generations. This battle of the fittest is a difficult war to wage. Children today are faced with numerous opportunities to be led to the sickly couch potato way of living. Years gone by, children were outside playing from the time homework was finished to the moment street lights illuminated the neighborhood. Nowadays, children returning home after a day of matriculation have so many opportunities of which to choose. Most options involve a more sedentary form |

True Identity in PoetryOur identity is the fact of being who we are. It includes factors such as our abilities, our physical and personal attributes, our occupation, our interests and hobbies and our values. Self-identity is not just about who we currently are but it includes our past selves and our future selves. Our future selves are what we dream to be; our future self is restricted by our fears or perceived threats but it is motivated by our goals, hopes, and dreams. The way in which we handle the obstacles in our life and face our challenges lie within clarity of our identity. Our identity and the choices that we make as a result of who we are determines whether we live our life with purpose, or live a life of disintegration. In Atwood's "Progressive Insanities of a Pioneer" and in Seamus Heaney's "Digging" the theme of identity is central to the success of one character living his life with purpose and the collapsing of another. In the poem "Digging," the speaker's suc |

The Old Timer's Game by Terrence Rafferty"The Old Timer's Game" is a piece of literature that reflects greatly the inner struggles of Ty Cobb, who is arguably one of the best baseball players in history. This article is known as a great example of fine writing that was published on August 27, 1997 in The New Yorker by Terrence Rafferty, a notorious American writer and journalist. The elements that I found most interesting about his writing style are the adjectives, the dialogue with the reader and the sentence variation. This article is enjoyable to read because Rafferty doesn't follow the strict writing rules that we have all been taught during school; he is very conversational and writes as he would speak to the reader, the reader on the other hand, feels comfortable and relaxed. The natural approach makes this paper a perfect example of "fine writing." The first thing that caught my eye in Rafferty's " The Old Timer's Game" is his plethora of adjectives. Rafferty shows this when he describes |

Sight: The Ultimate BlessingImagine living in a world of complete darkness. Without sight, it would feel like an endless horror movie, especially because I am afraid of the dark. I would feel no sense of the daytime. It would be night 24/7. I envision myself not being able to see the breath taking beaches of Hawaii, the Eiffel tower in Paris, or Times Square in New York. All these places are destinations many people in the world dream to see in their lifetime. Traveling around the world and witnessing the beauty of man-made structures or Mother Nature's beauty with my two eyes is truly a magnificent matter. What if I couldn't see my lover's face or my best friend's smile ever again? I know I would feel empty and lost. The lost of sight has a huge chain reaction and affects many aspects of my daily life and behavior. The ability to examine, observe, and detect is from the gift of sight, one of the greatest gifts of all time. Of course, the other senses, to hear, taste, smell, and touch are important to human being |

Disciplines and Traits of a Strong WriterMany people may use writing as a way to express their thoughts and feelings. Some people write to try and persuade others how to perceive something. Others may find writing comforting when they are feeling down. Writing means different things for many different people. I write mainly for academic purposes, but also as an escape from the real world when I am having a bad day. I have always been a strong writer. It has always been something that has come easy to me. It is also something that I have always been successful with in school. I am curious about certain prompts dealing with topics such as politics and human rights. I am not afraid to say what I want in my writings, even if it may not be what most people want to hear. One weakness I lack along with this though, is having a hard time being open minded. I never have a problem voicing my opinion in my writing, but I s |

E-Waste Management and Corporate ResponsibilityAbstract Electronic waste or e-waste is one of the rapidly growing problems of the world. E-waste comprises of a multitude of components, some containing toxic substances that can have an adverse impact on human health and the environment if not handled properly. In India, e-waste management assumes greater significance not only due to the generation of its own e-waste but also because of the dumping of e-waste from developed countries. This is coupled with India's lack of appropriate infrastructure and procedures for its disposal and recycling. Corporate responsibility thus becomes even larger to contribute to efforts to manage this e-waste. This can be done through take-back policies, anti-dumping policies etc. This will prove extremely beneficial to developing countries like India, who are an e-waste dumping ground for the developed countries around the world. This article will discuss what practices various companies have employed around the world, what companies are specifically i |

Sears Auto Centers - Ethics PaperIn the 1990s, Sears Auto Centers was burdened with a heavy scandal that deeply wounded its image with customers, and cost the corporation a pretty penny. A handful of complaints gave way to an investigation, and it wasn't long before the company was forced to settle for tens of millions of dollars. Furthermore, there was irreparable damage to Sears image with its customer base, all because of some unethical business tactics that easily could've been avoided. The problem in a case like this, for the CEO especially, is recognizing and admitting where a mistake such as this comes from. To a corporation, it may appear as though they are just trying to push sales and increase revenues, but to their valuable customers, it can quickly turn to fraud. An instance like this, where a customer is deceived or beguiled by the corporation in order to take advantage, is referred to as fraud in the inducement. This qualifies as such because the customer was misled about facts on his or her car after be |

The Life and Works of John Steinbeck"A sad soul can kill quicker than a germ," - John Steinbeck. This quote explains a lot about Steinbeck's life and his perspective on the time period in which he lived. The majority of the America at the time was sad, and it seemed easy for many to just give up. Steinbeck lived in a time period that was overwhelmingly pessimistic, yet was able to become very successful. This is Steinbeck's story as told through his biography, literary works, life experiences, and his legacy. John Steinbeck was born on February 27, 1902 in Salinas, California (Webster 1338). He was born into a middle class family and was the third of four children being the only boy (Hamilton 26). Community in Beloved and As I Lay DyingWebster's dictionary defines community as "a group of people who live in the same area" or "who have the same interests, religion, race, etc." Throughout the ages, our species's survival has depended upon the concept of togetherness. Some families, however, are dysfunctional and go against the grain, which and can negatively impact a community's functionality. So the responsibility is put on the community to help the struggling family. Faulkner's As I Lay Dying and Morrison's Beloved are similarly in the fact that both portray how community plays a key role in a families functionality in society. Looking at the novel Beloved from a chronological standpoint, the story truly begins with Sethe's time on the Sweet Home Plantation. The characters' time at Sweet Home was anything but sweet, but they made the best of a dysfunctional situation. In order to survive the hostile environment the slaves leaned on each other, and in turn formed a sort of makeshift community &quo |
