Glen Beck and An Inconvenient BookAn Inconvenient Book by Glenn Beck and Kevin Balfe was written to illustrate how to take concepts that conservatives hold dear to their hearts and apply them to "solve the world's problems." The authors take concepts like global warming (which apparently is a lie), and discuss how politicians manipulate these concepts in order to get their desired results or further their own agendas. He discusses other topics not so relevant to these political concepts, like blind dating, and then other political issues such as government spending. The title itself is a play on the Al Gore book An Inconvenient Truth, which in and of itself sums up the purpose of the book. It was, at times, a rather scathing annihilation of everything liberals hold dear to their hearts, and the title leads into the first ch |

The Friendly Grocery Store in the DeltaMost grocery stores today have focused all their attention on making money and not alot on their customers. In order to have a successful business, you must have a friendly environment and a wide thought process. However, for Ed Townsend focusing on the consumers perspective was one of the main points he shot for. So in 1962, Ed opened up his first grocery store in Columbus named Sunflower. This was a grocery store that sold fresh foods, had unmatched customer service, and also very low prices. Today, Sunflower has been around for 50 years and is growing fast over the United States. I stepped into the grocery store in Indianola and a employee with a green bow tie asked me did I need some help and greeted me right away. I felt like I was the prince of Egypt. I couldn't help but smell the pastries in the bakery. The smell was like grandmother kitchen on a beautiful Sunday morning. I could hear soothing music play through the speakers as I walked around. The grocery store was very busy but they still managed to satisfy and please every customer. I cruised my way around the store and some how came in |

Kids Having Kids: The Consequences of SexWhile many teens that engage in pre-marital sex never become pregnant, some are not as fortunate. Did you know in the next 24 hours, approximately 3,310 girls will become pregnant. Every year over one million teenage girls become pregnant in the United States. Of theses pregnancies only 13 percent are intended. As a result, about a third of these teens abort their pregnancies, another 14 percent lose their pregnancies to miscarriage, and the remaining 52 percent teens bear children. Of the half-a-million teens that give birth annually, 72 percent are unmarried and 75 percent are giving birth for the first time. More than 175,000 of these new moms are age 17 years or younger. America has the largest growing number of teen pregnancies in the world and it's just keeps getting worse. Teen pregnancy is a very common occurrence nowadays, which is very sad and definitely 100 percent preventable. I believe the parents of these teens are partially at fault. Parents need to talk with their c |

Psychology and PersonalityWho am I, who are you, what makes us who we are, how do you determine personality? These are ordinary questions that come up from time to time, everyone's answers are different and everyone is right in their own opinion on these questions. After reviewing this subject and looking at my first lot of questions I myself have taken a closer look at what determines personality and what aspects make up our personality. The study of the human mind has left many notable psychologists with differing views to explanations on varying types of personality. Today I am comparing two different theories of personality. Different types of personality can depend on many factors that give an overall picture to why and how personalities are viewed or seen. How we form these theories can be from perceptions that are seen or theories that have been studied over time, seeing how reactions to events impact on humans and how this comes out in our personality. |

Morality in Shakespeare's HamletThroughout the sixteenth century, many of Shakespeare's most famous plays, including Hamlet, were tragedies that readers could feel strong emotional connections with. Because of the popular infatuation with these plays, audiences were heavily attracted to the Globe Theater with the desire to see these plays preformed. In modern-day literature, Hamlet is still appreciated and still holds an equal appeal however, audiences are no longer solely attracted to the ultimate tragedy itself, but rather the play's many hidden subplots and the uncertainty of Hamlet's madness. Along with the obvious tragic components, there are other driving factors that make Hamlet such a multidimensional play. The factor that drives Hamlet's desire to murder Claudius is heavily questioned, providing a debate on whether Hamlet's eagerness to avenge his father is due to a bloodthirsty desire for revenge or because of a moral obligation to bring his father justice. Though there are respectable arguments to both sid |

Effect of Welfare ReformsAfter U.S. welfare was reformed in 1996, many states eliminated their educational programs and replaced them with "work-first" options. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of these changes as they pertained to adult women acquiring education and the ability to support them efficiently. This study used in-depth interviews, surveys and content analysis of current and proposed welfare legislation to examine how these policy changes have shaped the experiences and outcomes of adult women recipients, participating in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, and to determine whether or not proposed policy changes in TANF legislation meet the needs of these women. Also included in this research study was analysis of the effect welfare reform may have on the drop-out rate among high school girls in order to provide additional research on this issue. The Vel' d' Hiv' (Operation Spring Breeze)Although the Holocaust is infamously associated with Germany, the persecution of Jews stretched throughout Europe. This was partially because of Adolph Hitler's desire for world domination. In France, it was called the Vel' d' Hiv' or Operation Spring Breeze. The northern jurisdiction of France at the time was under German control. Thus, French officials, under German authority, carried out orders from the Nazi powers to avoid complete German dominance. Just as in Germany, men, women and children of Jewish origin, were dragged away from their homes and sent to camps where they were either put to work or death. The greatest mass-arrest of Jews ever carried out on French soil, the Vel' d' Hiv' targeted all Jews. However, the reason for this massacre wasn't because French officials were anti-Semitic, it was more of a power struggle/ partnership between France and Germany, "competition between Vichy [government in France from 1940 to 1944] and the Germans for pride of place in the lega |

Seat Belt Laws in IndianaThe purpose of this paper is to discuss the Indiana seat belt laws of today. Seat belts have been around for many years. Seat belts were put into cars for our safety, and for the safety of our children. Many adults do not like to wear them. Many children do not like to wear them. I am always telling my children to buckle up. Seat belts cannot help you if you are not wearing them. They are not in cars just for looks. They must be worn and they must be worn properly. How many times have you seen people with seat belts on and they have the shoulder strap behind them or under their arm? I have seen that many times. That is not the proper way to wear a seat belt and you could be hurt if you wear a seat belt improperly. I will discuss some of the background of seat belts and why they became such an important part of a vehicle. I will discuss the Indiana seat belt laws and some of the changes made throughout the years. Indiana became a state in 1816, and the settlers started moving i |

Constitutional Convention: New JerseyThere were three main proposals at the constitution convention in 1787: The Virginia Plan, The New Jersey Plan and the Connecticut Compromise. The Virginia plan stayed true to political equality, one person is equal to one vote because states were represented by population. Also in this plan the proposed legislature would be bicameral a House and a Senate, the Senate being elected by state legislature would provide a check on the House. The New Jersey plan would protect the smaller states from the Virginia plan that would favor the bigger states. The Connecticut compromise like the Virginia plan proposed a bicameral legislature, a House and a Senate but the only the House was represented by population and the Senate by equal representation. The New Jersey plan proposed the legislature be unicameral instead of bicameral and that the states be represented equally instead of represented by proportion to their population. The Continuing Battle for Civil RightsThroughout history town hall meetings have used as the best method for individuals of a community to talk and discuss important issues and concerns they themselves and their community may have. In this case the issue at large isn't just pertaining to a single community or an individual, but a whole nation facing arguably one of the most debated issues in American history to date; segregation. In 1964 leaders and activists from both sides of the argument on segregation strongly voiced their thoughts and beliefs on the issue with both sides stating their beliefs with strong conviction and certainty that their opinion on the matter was what was best for our country. One of the many to stand to speak out against segregation during this meeting was a man by the name of Mario Savio. Savio is known as one of the most well-known and beloved speakers during the civil rights movements of the 1960's. Mario Savio was the one who brought the attention of inequality throughout other parts of t |

Flannery O'Connor and the Theme of ViolencePeople who are fond of creating generalizations are those who wish to fit the story into a neat, little box. Those people that make generalizations might tell us that a piece of fiction must have one or more characters with whom the reader can relate to. The reason being the person on the page is likable or has some qualities that makes the person sympathetic or at least a recognizably authentic human. The same goes for "Everything That Rises Must Converge " by Flannery O "Conner. In this story, the way the characters are portrayed, to some extent, tends to relate to the existing characters in the reality in which I live in. In some situations, there may be a sense of oddity present, however those situations are very likely to be seen in reality. There are various types of people that live in today's society and each person has a unique aspect of their character to share with the society. The same goes for the story. Julian is a character in the story that is being demonstrated in s |

The Parenting BalanceParents are first forms of authority a person encounter during their life. Many parents believe teenagers need constant supervision because teenagers make poor choice. I did agree because if you keep a child in locked the house, when he goes outside he will run wild, and may not want to return home. Since I was young, I have always known that my older brother had issues with authority because constantly have to reiterate things to term repeatedly. Growing up we were all taught to be obedient and respectful children. However, my older brother brothers did not like restrictions, influenced their actions and judgment, dramatically changed their communication level within the family. And ultimately severed their bonds with our family. Baring witness to these events I concluded that parents need to give their young adults more freedom and allow them to learn to live and grow. This will will encourage young adults to be more forthcoming and open with their parents about that they are hav |

Purchasing the Air Passenger Transportation for the CorporationTravel management or corporate travel management is the function of managing a company's strategic approach to travel. Corporate Travel Management is an art that balances necessity with expense. For most companies -travel & expenses-(T&E) costs represent the second highest controllable annual expense, exceeded only by salary & benefits, and is commonly higher than IT and/or real estate costs.() A group of developments has already brought travel management to the top at many organizations. Lots of travel managers and buyers were tasked with reducing T&E expenses, and more travel managers were employed to do the cutting T&E expense to optimize travel. On the other hand, the natural disasters and sociopolitical upheaval highlighted the need to track travelers to ensure their well-being. For all companies and organizations, to standardize travel processes and reduce corporate expenses are achievable objectives, especially with senior and experienced management support. Theme of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's NestWhile reading One Flew over the Cuckoo's nest the theme that stood out to me the most was the theme of being constantly watched and how that pressure can control your individuality and day to day actions. Whether it is literal or figuratively the characters in the book demonstrate several scenarios of where they felt like all eyes are on them. Through real life occurrences and internal conflicts in the characters the theme of watching is ever present throughout the novel. The chief describes his feeling of uncertainty of the outside world when he describes the mental institution constantly watching him go through the motions of his everyday life. A man of his stature shouldn't need to fear anything. His physicality is far greater than of any others in the institution yet he feels the need to pretend like he couldn't talk or hear. It wasn't until he established a relationship with McMurphy that he is able to break out of his quiet shell formed by the pressures of the institution. |

Do Nuclear Weapon Provide Security?Arms race [1] now is an important world issue. The reason why there are lots of races is because there is a new kind of energy was found --- nuclear. Many countries are going to make more powerful weapons than other countries to show their strength. Every new events has been justified in the name of security, however, do we ever think about, "do nuclear weapons really provide security for us?" My answer is no. Although nuclear weapons are extremely powerful, but for many reasons, nuclear weapons do not provide security. Once nuclear weapons are making use of war, the earth probably will be destroyed. The processes of producing and storage are really dangerous. Lastly, nuclear weapons can cause people directly and indirectly feel unsecured. Therefore, in my opinion, nuclear weapons do not provide security. Firstly, once nuclear weapons are making use of war, there won't have any victor. What is weapon? Weapons are things must use in war or we don't need it. Obviously, no one will feel |

Education and the Happy LifeWe went to school every day since we were six years old. We learned things which we do not really want to learn through boring classes. Our parents told us that we must do well in school, and then we will have a good life in future. That is the only way to change people's lives if they do not want to live in the lower class. Therefore, we carried a heavy burden when we were in the classroom. We have been told happiness is waiting for you if you listening to them, however, happiness is far away from us. Some people may ask, "How do you know happiness is far away from us?" Nicholas D. Kristof's, "The Happiest People" shows us the ""Happy Planet Index" (HPI) devised by the New Economics Foundation, a liberal think tank." In 74 place of 143 nations surveyed, Costa Rica had the "highest life satisfaction" in the world, and America came in at 114th. But what's the HPI? The HPI measures how much of the Earth's resources nations use and how long and happy a life their citizens enjoy a |

Understanding Film Musical ScoresMusic typically accompanies film, video, and television productions. It serves a variety of general and specific psychological functions, from increasing attention to providing commentary. Because of the interaction of musical and visual experience in film soundtrack phenomena, and the fact that music and film are art forms which require perceptual and cognitive processing, the domain of musical soundtrack research is vast indeed. In an attempt to provide order among the rich diversity, three perspectives for research on film soundtracks are presented. In brief they concern an associationist approach to musical meaning, organization or structure of musical and visual material, and finally, memory and awareness for film and film music. A useful approach to the problem of mu |

The Ongoing Battle for Women's RightsThere have been many great strides in history to help make this country a more equal place for women however there are still many things that need to be worked on in order to make things completely equal. One of the big issues we still face is inequality in the work place. It is not just between women and men but also from single women with no kids to single moms trying to make ends meat to support their family. From wages to hiring qualifications, it seems like there is a double standard. One big problem that I think I have the biggest issue with is the gap in wages. The average childless woman makes about 90 percent of what men do for the same job, qualifications, and experience. For those of us who are mothers we only make about 73 percent of what men do for the same job, with the same qualifications and experience. Other countries do not have the same issues as we do here in the U.S. Another big issue in the work place is the double standard for women being hired in the w |

Flaws of King LearThe play King Lear was written by the famous author William Shakespeare. The writer William Shakespeare illustrates King Lear, has a tragic hero and also the main character whose flaws take the very best of him. In this plays the tragic hero must be blessed with different aspects or qualities. The three different aspects are power, tragic flaw, and a failing or downfall. The first one involves power such as a leader or king should have power over his kingdom. Another aspect would be a tragic flaw; in this play William Shakespeare illustrates some of those flaws within the main character. Last but not least, a downfall in which King Lear later realizes that his mistake was much more than a downfall. The main character in this play King Lear is a tragic hero because he possesses these three aspects of a hero. His flaws, his unintelligence or ignorance, and his lack of common sense, each contribute to each other. To begin with, the first flaw portray in the play was his ego, which |

Nietzche's PhilosophyReligion represents one of the most important aspects of humans' history, placing it at the base of many cultural debates. However, in the 17th century, the rise of rationalism, and modern liberalism brought new thinking streams undermining the legitimacy of the Church. Philosophers like Descartes promoted reason while Newton and his scientific colleagues discovered physical concepts, changing our conception of the world. However, most of these 17th century thinkers remained linked to the church, promoting its for many years. An important philosopher, Nietzsche, born in the middle of the 19th century, brought new ideas and tried to present his philosophy on the "death" of God. At this point in time, the industrial's ruled society, humanity entered a new era, and church began losing its power. We are going to explore the following question: Is Nietzsche an atheist or a depth-theologian in the tradition of St-Paul? In my opinion, Nietzsche r |

Othello and RacismThroughout Othello, the character Iago is used on a continual basis to demonstrate how people can be manipulated both through lies and honesty. By using a mix of the truth and lies, Iago plays a particularly important role in manipulating Othello. Iago's focus on the truth is used with the intent of igniting emotions like jealousy in Othello. By doing this, Iago is able to demonstrate's€"as a character "that humans are not always Christian by nature. Although Iago uses honesty to manipulate at several stages in the play, there is one scene where he is brutally honest with Othello regarding race and his relationship with Desdemona. In Act 3, Scene 3, Iago tells Othello As (to be bold with you), not to affect many proposed matches, of her own clime, complexions (3,3,29). Here, Iago is referring to Desemona's affair with Cassio. He is being honest with Othello by referring to the racial barriers posed to their relationship, and pointing out that Cassio can offer Desemona a racial match, as he is white. Although racism in Elizabethan times is a far cry from what it is today, it did have its own form. According to Merklein (5) a blackne |
